Roots & Return: The Gathering | Ghana 2028 isn't a traditional group trip. It's a thoughtfully curated heritage journey designed for travelers who want more than a vacation.
Over the course of 11 days, we'll journey through Accra, Kumasi, and Elmina, experiencing Ghana at a pace that allows us to be fully present in each destination. Rather than rushing from one landmark to the next, this journey has been intentionally designed to balance cultural discovery, meaningful connection, reflection, celebration, and time to simply breathe and take it all in.
Every experience has been chosen with purpose. From visiting places that have shaped history to participating in traditions that continue to be woven into everyday life, you'll have the opportunity to experience Ghana in a way that feels authentic, immersive, and deeply personal. There will be moments of learning, moments of celebration, and moments of quiet reflection because each one plays an important role in the journey.
Roots & Return was created for travelers who are looking for something beyond sightseeing. It's for those who want to understand the stories, connect with the people, appreciate the culture, and return home with a perspective that reaches far beyond the photographs they captured along the way.
One of the things that makes this journey so special is that we won't simply be traveling together - we'll be building community together. We may arrive in Ghana as individuals, but over the course of the journey we'll learn together, reflect together, celebrate together, and create connections that continue long after we've returned home.
By intentionally limiting the gathering to just 25 travelers, I'm able to preserve the intimacy, care, and personalized experience that are at the heart of everything Roots & Return was created to be. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered so that you can focus less on logistics and more on being fully present for the experience.
This is more than a trip. It's an opportunity to reconnect with history, celebrate culture, and experience Ghana in a way that will stay with you long after you've returned home. That's why I call it Roots & Return, because while we'll all leave Ghana with incredible memories, I believe we'll also leave carrying something much deeper

While I hope Roots & Return will continue for years to come and eventually explore other destinations that tell the broader story of heritage, identity, and connection, Ghana will always be where it began. It is the foundation of this journey and the place where the very first gathering came together.
That means the travelers who join me in November 2028 won't simply be taking part in a group trip. They'll become part of the story itself. Years from now, when Roots & Return continues to grow and evolve, they'll always be able to say they were there from the very beginning.

Throughout the journey, a handful of experiences have been intentionally set apart as signature moments. These aren't included simply to fill the itinerary—they're the experiences that give Roots & Return its heart and that many travelers will carry with them long after they've returned home.
Traditional Ghanaian Naming Ceremony
One of the most meaningful experiences of the journey is participating in a traditional Akan naming ceremony led by respected local elders. Through this beautiful cultural tradition, guests are welcomed into a ceremony that honors heritage, symbolism, and ancestral connection while receiving a name chosen with purpose and meaning.
Approached with reverence and care, this experience creates space for personal reflection and offers an opportunity to connect with Ghanaian culture in a deeply meaningful way.
Custom Tailor Experience
Ghana is known for its extraordinary textiles and craftsmanship, and during the journey, guests will have the opportunity to meet with local tailors for a personal consultation to create custom garments inspired by traditional fabrics and individual style.
From selecting fabric to final fittings, the experience is more than creating something beautiful to wear. It becomes a tangible reminder of the journey and the memories created along the way.
Sunset Palette Gathering | Elmina Coast
One of my favorite moments of the journey takes place along the coast of Elmina as the sun begins to set over the Atlantic Ocean. Dressed in warm sunset-inspired colors - golds, terracottas, ambers, rusts, and soft earth tones -
we'll gather by the water for an evening centered around conversation, connection, and simply enjoying the moment together.
There isn't a program to follow or a schedule to keep. It's an opportunity to slow down, reflect on everything we've experienced together, and appreciate the beauty of being fully present in a place that holds so much history.
Closing Gathering Dinner
Our final evening together is a celebration of everything the journey has become. Over one last dinner, we'll share stories, reflect on the experiences that have shaped us, celebrate the friendships we've built, and honor the connections that will continue long after we've returned home.
It's a meaningful way to close the gathering while recognizing that, although the journey through Ghana is coming to an end, what we've gained from the experience doesn't end when we board our flights home.
